They should, but also remember they’re politicians and also therefore very likely to be idiots on self-righteous power trips. I’m amazed they don’t all have little business cards, the top half of which contain the words “Don’t you know who I am?!”

I think that being a diplomat he should take extra care abiding the law and keeping the fuss to a minimum. Being a middle-eastern, on a US plane, AND confronting an air-marshal is very irresponsible of him. Diplomats should know better…

Oh silly diplomat, shoe bombs are for terrorist. I don’t understand how he thought that was the right thing to say as a joke. For a diplomat he doesn’t watch too much TV!!

Ah, yes I remember that. It is ridiculous how the whole “war on terror” has done nothing but fuel paranoia. I’ve *been* to Muslim countries and frankly I’d feel a whole hell of a lot safer with 6 Bangladeshis walking behind me in a dark alleyway at night than six random white guys.

at least he *did* something. There’s the infamous case where two Manchester Uni. students boarded a Ryanair-type plane in Spain, and the passengers were so spooked that said students had the temerity to be dark-skinned and speak a foreign language, that they were all petrified and demanded that he be taken off. And they had to be persuaded to leave eventually.
