At last, a match with some atmosphere. And courtesy of “referee” Graham Poll, some wonderfully contentious decisions that both sides can have a right awful moan about. Including, as the icing on the cake, one offside decision (against Middlesbrough) that’s correct from the sensible point of view, but incorrect based on the new rules brought in a couple of weeks ago.
The one thing that really pissed me off were the “boo-boys” who courteously gave the team a slating as they walked off 0-1 down at half time. Only to be joining in with the lines “we are the loyalest/ football supporters/ the world has ever seen” in the second half, once we scored.
A few words to them: “no you’re not.” The guy stood in one of the far corners who I saw on TV yelling and cheering at our players when the Boro scored… he is loyal. The ones who roared every touch of the ball when we were still a goal down and begged Bellamy to lamp the mop-haired prat who was shoving him around. The ones who stayed till the final whistle at both half- and full-time. THEY are the loyalest.
The rest of you are just the ones who need a dictionary.
