Computers are dangerous

I don’t just mean when you drop them on someone’s head either. I have to thank my housemate Kim for not fainting when I entered her room (fully clothed) earlier. Basically, I was trying to knock one of the plastic bits out of the front of a case (anyone who’s put a 3.5" drive into a new box will know what I mean) when my finger slid down the metal edging as the cover piece popped out.

I’ve not so much cut my finger as gouged a chunk around 3mm deep along the side of it. It took around 10 minutes to stop bleeding and by the time I got up to Kim’s room the blood was almost spilling out of my cupped palm.

Does anyone know how to get blood out of a carpet? You can’t see it too much – the carpet’s blue, not white. Thank **** for small mercies.

“women’s prison during rag week” -> Howling with laughter.

I agree with Mosh. Those metal bits of the case are made of .5mm steel and might as well be made by Wilkinson Sword. I’m sure I have one or two PC cases with bits of flesh still attached. I now use pliers each time.

Actually, he redeemed himself by holding my hand when my foot was injected with the anaesthetic – he had bruises where my nails dug in for weeks!

Erm… no. I went upstairs to where the plasters and antiseptic cream are kept, and got Kim to get them out as I couldn’t open the box they were in without covering it with blood.

I tried to put the cream on the cut before it was sticky-plastered, but it kept turning into this sludgy pink emulsion because of all the blood, so that was a lost cause. And the toilet this morning looked like the loo at a women’s prison during rag week, because of all the type-O-soaked tissue I’d chucked down it and forgotten to flush.

Glad it didn’t happen the night before… I’d have been no help at all, lol
Hope its healing ok now though 🙂
And knowing you, you’d have liked grossing someone out with it… no doubt I’ll be shown the cut at some point!

Let me get this straight – you cut your finger – badly – and rather than getting something to staunch the bleeding, you cup the other hand under it and go for a walk upstairs? Because there was a woman there, who would give you sympathy? Or because you were deliverately trying to gross her out?

Typical bloke!

Oh, and any of those ‘Shout’ type cleaners should get it out of the carpet. But it might get the rest of the crub out and you end up with paler patches, rather than the darker patches you have now.

Maybe this is just female logic, but why didn’t you wrap it in, for example, kitchen roll (assuming the kitchen is downstairs where you were) or a towel or something. then when the blood stopped flowing, THEN go and get some cream/plaster?

Reminds me of when I almost sliced my toe off – I was in the kitchen, just leapt across the room to grab a whole roll of kitchen paper. All X could do was run around the room waving his hands in the air. Oh. And he picked the knife up.
