I had a small bump with an Audi today. Don’t worry, I’m fine. As is my car which was 1/4 of a mile away at the time.
There’s a junction near work with a pedestrian crossing on it. The road that feeds on has two lanes: straight on and turn left (down the road with the crossing). Along with a bunch of people I was stood there and the “little green man” came on, so we started to walk.
Two cars ran the lights and turned left. Then this Audi joined them, turning left from the "straight ahead" without indicating – effectively jumping two different red lights. Two people jumped back onto the pavement on the opposite side of the road. I didn’t.
I think there may have been some foot/rear panel contact. This was most likely because I lifted my foot and kicked the ****** as he roared past. There was definitely a "thunk" followed by a "pop". Sadly, I think
this means that the panel popped back out again. I can only hope I left a mark or scratch. Next time I’ll welly it harder or aim for the lights on the back.
Audi is the new BMW – overpriced, German and driven by *****.

“Audi is the new BMW – overpriced, German and driven by *****.”
If I were Rover or some other car manufacturer, I would think seriously about using this as my new slogan. Top stuff
hung around a bit but no sign and they might have thought I was staying to audition for the next album cover!!!
– but did go with my £10 cd clutched tightly in my sweaty palm – played it all the way home & on the way in to work this morning – yeeeehaaaaah.
Rather handily, one of the mates I was there with does events programming for Portsmouth City Council so guess who she’s going to see if she can book for a gig in the summer – will be able to get loads of signage then as obviously I’ll have to be there before & after to help arrange “stuff” – if it comes off I’ll let you know!!
I’m working at the assumption they’ll be on at Leeds. a *little* closer to home…
JJ – they’re aiming to be back over around July/August and *hoping* to do some of the the festival dates as well as small venues.
Which CD did you get?
Let There Be Rockgrass – and there was!
Just heard from my chum & she hung around after to speak to the band, got their agent’s number & has just called him – he’s going to confirm tomorrow whether they will come to the bandstand to play on Southsea Common – how cool would that be!!
We’re also going to hassle the Isle of Wight promoters to see if they’ll book them as well…
Nice one JJ… I bought that album too! Be great for them to get loads of gigs though, am definately going to try seeing them again in the summer 🙂
Oh, and JJ – did you hang around after the gig? The lads will sign anything and everything. I think they were giving A4 flyers away for free after the Nottingham concert and the CDs were only a tenner. The show was so good, I bought one despite already having downloaded all the MP3s for nowt.
You’re right about their attitude, though. They just seem stunned that they’re so popular, very humble with it and enjoying the ride. Power to them!
Oh, BTW I dodn’t find out that piece of info directly. I would never drive away from an accident. A woman at work was involved in a car accident with the biggest Merc you have ever seen. It was the Merc driver’s fault but she just looked down her nose and shouted some abuse at her in the poshest accent she had ever heard, said it wasn’t her fault, and drove off.
Police went right out and nicked the silver spoon fed git. Probably related to the royals and thought she was above the law.
Psycho ex came a cropper from one of those “not my fault” ******* a few years ago. Driving down Leeds Road when two teenage ***** pulled out of a side street into the side of her.
They got out, yelled abuse at her about her going “too fast” down the main road – so it was her fault despite them driving into the side door of my car.
She was too shaken and intimidated to take the number, which is a shame but I understand. Thing is, round here the chances are that the ******* weren’t insured (or likely identifiable amongst a family of 30) anyway.
Shame you didn’t get his number. I found out that the police will just go and arest someone who drives away from an accident even if there is no proof as to fault or that it even happened.
There’s a point. Do you know rat boys number plate 😉
Sorry to divert from topic but Hayseed Dixie were sooooooooo good last night – they rocked, we rocked, the **** in front of me got thrown out by security for being a **** and all was right with the world – excellent musicians & the lead “call me Barley ma’am” knew how to work a crowd to perfection. They came across as really genuine guys who were having a great time doing something they love to do – hope they manage to keep that joy in performing.
Only trouble is I’m knackered now after a late night – wake me up when it’s time to go home please!
They are billed to appear at 2005 Americana festival at the county showground near Newark, 7th-10th July. Bit of a travel for me, but I might just make the effort!
Time to get steel toe-capped boots. They work a treat in times like this.
I nearly got run over the other day on a zebra crossing. This car stopped, so I walked onto the crossing in front of him, so he decided to pull forward again. I jumped back, as he slammed on his brakes. He did wind his window down and apologised, said the sun was in his eyes.
Like I am hard to miss?
