Friday – at ******* last

Trouble with wind

Has someone on the news got mixed up with their “before” and “after” pictures after Birmingham’s cyclone (or whatever it was classed as)? I’m seeing areas with broken windows, knocked down walls, damaged doors and so on.

Basically, just like every council estate I’ve ever seen in Birmingham or anywhere else. The news reporter was going on about cars being moved. Has he never heard of joyriders? Cars in walls? Ramraiders.

The effects of this wind are a bit like someone throwing a mass panic because there’s been a sudden spate of hubcap thefts on Merseyside. In other words, business as usual.

Yay, let’s all start trusting terrorists

Happy news. The IRA are all going to hand their guns over and fight with words instead. I for one am overjoyed and gullibly going to believe every single word, because we’re only dealing with “people” who murder innocents, including all those children the day before Mother’s Day all those years ago.

Like ****, do I believe them.

The IRA is split into so many parts that they don’t know what each other are doing. Regardless what the big guy at the supposed head says, there’ll be some nutjob elsewhere who’ll keep a cellar-full of explosives and weaponry to use when he thinks he can get away with it in typically cowardly fashion.

Don’t get me wrong, I really hope this is the end of all the ****. But let’s face it – it’s still a big religious and territorial thing and that hasn’t really changed. You can’t just tell psychpaths (for that’s what they are – cowardly, pathetic, sick psychopaths) to stop.

Listening to 5Live this morning, the government minister in charge of the Ireland situation was trying to defend his decision to release a man who’d killed more than any of the 7th July bombers. I’m sorry, but you can’t. They both killed innocent people. The Irish one got caught and has been let go for political reasons. By releasing him, Good Friday Agreement or not, is to capitulate to terrorism. He should have been flayed, hung, drawn and quartered. Instead, he gets an early release and treated like a hero.

******* sick. But, hey, that’s our world these days.

Holidays

Allen from work is off on his jolly’s tomorrow for a whole month. Concentrating mainly on Australia, I believe. His wife had a list of things to take ready in June last year. Talk about being over-prepared.

Oz is a weird country. The whole place is like one big foot and mouth exclusion zone. If you want to try and smuggle in a salad sandwich, you have to wrap it in Semtex so they sniffer dogs don’t find it. They’re more worried about a rogue spud creeping over the borders than a 10 megaton thermonuclear device.

I’d have thought a country founded on criminals would have been more concerned about people nicking things.

Shooting Parrots

Re: the IRA, totally agree. Dead easy to agree to a cease-fire when you hardnut mates have given up the struggle by killing folk by robbing banks instead. Accounts in the Cayman Islands instead, etc.

Hope is that someone, somewhere is motivated enough to hunt the ******* down. A bit of lead ballast would not go amiss. ********.

About Oz: Considering you lot kicked them out expecting them to die, I don’t blame them for being more suspicious of foriegners coming along trying to finish the job than of their stuff suddenly walking off.

Me and X once got stopped in customs waiting for out bags becaise one o the dog swnet nuts niffing my hadn lugage. Tuns out oft was cos i had had an apple in it the week bfore – the dogs aren;t trainded to sniff out boms, but to snigff pout fruit

anni had a beer or three?

IRA. Lets wait and see I’m sure some other ****** up idiots will carry on with the shooting and stuff.

Birmingham cyclone. I can’t see any difference.

SP – I recommend “The Chinaman” by Stephen Leather. One of his early novels and along the lines you mention.

WW – seems a bit unfair we kick them off to prison for punishment and they end up with a sunshine nation. Whereas the ones that actually fought us and “won” independence are now suffering the joys of the Patriot Act and a madder ruler than George V.

Anni – your email was about as ****** as that post. One bottle of wine after 4 weeks? No wonder you were blasted. Happy hangover!

SFG – thing with the IRS is that there is no such thing any more. There’s the Provisional IRA. The “Real IRA”. The Pink With Green Polka Dot IRA. They’re all *****, but one person can’t speak for all of them, surely.

My email? All I sent was a couple of pics wasn’t it? And I can sort of understand what I said up there – the gist was I once got stopped in America when a dog could smell where an apple had been the week before. They don’t have sniffer dogs for drugs or bombs in America – oh no – the big threat there is apples. And cheese.

Sir Findo Gask

The chinaman is a really good read..

Frankly, I’d recommend anything by him. And not just cos he emailed me out of the blue from a cybercafe in Hong Kong one time.

Stephen Leather emailed you – cool! Tell us more. I third the recommendation. Some of Chris Ryan’s stuff is pretty good as well. Although if the ex-SAS bit is what floats your boat, Andy McNAb is still king in my book.

Ss – it was a few years ago and I”ve lost the mail, but basically I used to do book reviews, music reviews etc and pop them on the old web page (pre-blog days). I’d given “The Long Shot” a good write-up and I got an email from him to say “thanks”. Apparently it was quite a difficult one to write so he appreciated the positive feedback. I tried to reply, but the email address was a generic “person@cybercafe.com” one.

Mark Billingham also replies to emails – check back on my blog for that one. Oh, and Terry Pratchett used to reply to them all until he became so inundated it became impractical. He used to use his usenet newsgroup to get technical help and ideas for his novels! Douglas Adams (RIP) was another author who was good for replies, too.
