First of all, I’m not wanting to trivialise the hurricane that hit the American south today. It’s an awful thing to have happened and, stupid though it may have been, I can kind of sympathise with those who stayed to try and protect their property – and perhaps lost their lives doing so.
However.
A headline on Fox News calls it “Our Tsunami”. No it ******* wasn’t. It was nowhere near the scale of the Boxing Day tsunami. It may have seemed like it to the unfortunate few (yes – “few”) who suffered, but it’s nothing compared to the tens of thousands who died last year.
Tens. Of. Thousands. Compared to dozens. It’s like saying that dropping a saucepan on your foot was “our house’s meteoric earth-destroying strike”.
Point 2 – and the fuckwit my headline is aimed at. That arsehole puppet in “charge” of the country. What a complete, self-obsessed, attention-seeking ****. Did anyone hear his entire speech? I’m trying to track a copy down on the net but I’m not having much luck. They all stop where he should have, that is around about where he’s telling people to get in touch with the Red Cross, Sally Army and other charities.
The thing is, he then went on to blather about how the US’s own troops can’t really do **** all to help, because some power-hungry douche-bag has sent them all overseas to continue the “war on terror”.
Sorry, George. This made your speech sound like one of two things:
1) An apology for bollocksing everything up by shipping all the soldiers who would have helped off to Iraq to get used as underage cannon fodder
2) A propaganda statement, that it’s all the terrorist’s fault because if they weren’t such bad people then step 1 above wouldn’t be necessary.
Instead, you come across as the stupid, pathetic, single-minded little **** that we all know you are. Well ******* done. Now go get daddy’s big ******* cheque book and send a suitable donation – a few tens of millions will do – to the aforementioned charities. And don’t you ******* dare try to cream any off as tax.

Are you seriously saying you think any money will flow from his personal pocket to help those who suffered?
And from his budget? Well the more he spends on helping Americans, the less he can spend on blowing innocent people up.
Have you noticed that the news will say that they bombed the **** out of some place killing 20, 30, 40 or 50 people who were ‘suspected’ terrorists. I know things are a bit different over there, but do you think I would get away with killing a stranger in the street who looked at me funny and claimed self defence because I ‘suspected’ he might hit me?
How many wedding parties have the Anericans blown up? I recall about 5.
It is a FACT that more innocent people are now killed in Iraq than when Saddan was in charge.
Sad thing is that if Bush had a time machine, I doubt he would do anything different.
I’ll put my soap box away now.
BUSH = ****
I suppose that is actually true if you look at it from a different perspective as well.
However I’ll take it you were meaning George 🙂
And before you mention it, Chris – yes I know JJ’s gone to Spurs. Good riddance. And £7m profit. Also keep an eye on Nobby, who may be making his way back in exchange for Milner (loan – 12 months) and £1.5m.
You really really really ought to post on some of the right wing US blogs:- http://www.gutrumbles.com would be a good place to start. He’s one of the worst though amusing at times.
You forget the fact that the tsunami came as a total shock and surprise. They’ve had at least 5 days warning of hurricane Katrina, not to mention attempted evacuation plans, and countless articles pointing out the scale of a disaster of a Cat. 5 hurricane.
The best comment was that it looked like something out of Hiroshima. I haven’t seen people burnt to death or oblierated from existence yet… (well, you can’t see them but you know what I mean)
The great/terrible thing about the United States is that it’s never had to undergo a major nation-shaking million-casualty disaster in its heartlands, unlike Europe or Asia.
I haven’t gone to spurs, honest, it’s a lie
& why aren’t you blatherin… urm, I mean, intelligently discussing Owen’s xfer to Toonland then…?
Yup, good bit of business that. Cos we needed another midfielder to create some competition with Davids, Davis, Mendes, Carrick and Brown for the two positions. Jol made it very clear that his priority was to get a new striker to replace Kanoute. So that’ll be why apparently we’ve also bought a Korean defender from PSV. Ah well, we’ll still finish above the toon!
Dave – I’ll check that out when I get a chance. I love baiting sad Americans (as opposed to the nice ones that come here)
BDB – utterly true. The yanks know how to do one thing and that’s blow anything – even something as already massive as a hurricane – out of all proportion.
JJ – The other JJ, ya numpty. The useless *bling bling* chav wazzock, as opposed to the undeniably (probably) sexy you. And everyone knows about Owen coming to Newcastle. It was a stonewal certainty about 2 weeks ago, so why the hoo-hah?
Alan – yes, you probably will. Mind, we were in the same boat a few weeks ago. All we needed were defenders and strikers, so we bought midfielders. OK, so we got defenders, but I’ve never heard of them and they’ve not played. And now we’ve bought two strikers in a week (though one’s effectively a loan while Liverpool save up for next season).
I agree totally – same thing occurred to me. How can they *dare* to compare it with the tsunami? And BDB is also right – they at least had warning it was coming. And while I do feel sorry for the dead, why the **** didn’t they up and leave town? They chose to stay, so they chose to face possible death. Therefore, in my eyes, they don’t really deserve sypmathy.
hmmm, would temper that a bit, as from reading some of the posts on the BBC it seems that some had nowhere to go and / or no way of getting out (ie. no car and all public transport closed down) so wouldn’t say it’s as black & white as all that…
You’re right JyJ, I know more about it now, and I was way too harsh.
America’s not looking its best in the eyes of the world, is it?
Just hearing that Condi Rice was spotted at the theatre and out buying designer shoes yesterday. Jesus.
Isn’t Bushy a gem? We’re just so proud of him and what he’s doing for our country.
OK – it’s absolutely impossible to even WRITE that with a straight face.
Who got up on the wrong side then ;o)
There’s a right side to get up on? The world’s more fun to rant at than appreciate at times. It’s also easy to do when a huge lump of it is presided over by an arse like George Bush.
