That’s my boy… right in the middle of a scrum of grown-ups at my Krav class this afternoon. I couldn’t take part in the game because of my dodgy wrists so he offered to fill in. And bloody hell, did he fill in! 11 on Monday and every bit as vicious as everyone else in the class #ProudDad

So it turns out that Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, was in town today and popped into our school because we’re a bit of a high flyer with the old Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. I’d been put forward for a long service award, which is flattering, and I got a nice little certificate to pop on the mantelpiece. To put it in perspective, though, I’ve been involved for 6 years (essentially since I joined the High School). This pales into insignificance compared to some of my colleagues who’ve been involved for 10, 11, 18, 22 and – in one case – 31 years with the scheme.

It’s nice to get a little token, I have to say, especially for something that I do because i enjoy it, and because so many of the pupils get so much out of it. Colour me a nice shade of chuffed.

Staff vs S6 football at lunchtime today for one of the house charity events. So of course I got voluntold I was doing it… I’m glad to say that the staff won. Well, on every aspect apart from the number of goals, shots on target, general ability and so on. I maintain it was a moral victory, though. The moral was never to play football against people 1/3 your age.
