I’ve just uploaded some pics of the cat to my Fotopic area. They’re currently awaiting verification, but should be up there very shortly for you all to go “aaah” at.
In other news, I’m having a tinker with Mozilla Firebird and in all honesty I’m not that impressed. OK, I love the way it handles add-ins, and I really like some of them. On the other hand, I’m not that keen on the way it orders Favourites (and still insists on calling them “Bookmarks”).
Also, as anyone using it will notice, all the links on this page open in a new window (though I’m working on Javascript to make that optional) and not in a new tab. As yet I don’t know how to force it to open “target=_blank” pages in new tabs, so that kind of circumvents one of the other features I do like.
On the whole, it’s a nice browser. I do like it. I’m just far too used to IE to make the change worthwhile.
bloody narwhales – they might look all cute when they’re curled up at the foot of the bed, but it’s a different story when they hog the shower just as you’re trying to get ready for work…
Erm, yeah Scary. They kind of do that after a while. You may find the same occurs with dogs, rabbits, elephants and narwhales.

I’m so used to just using the buttons (or keyboard shortcuts) that I don’t need mouse gestures. In fact, when I looked at the “define your own” screen, I balked because there are so damn many of them! It’s like learning a new language!
I’ve heard the name Firebird buzzing around various places.
What’s the big deal. Isn’t it just netscape?
In order:
1) Firebird *is* Netscape, yes. Only it’s now open source and (I believe) follows proper HTML standards rather than someone else’s version of it.
2) You’re right. She’s cute one moment, trying to tear your hand to bits the next!
3) I’ve made the links “extra-windowular” on my blog because of the way my web forwarding works. If you link to somewhere off my blog and it stays in the same window, the address doesn’t update. So if you go to a new site and think “nice, I’ll bookmark that” you end up bookmarking my site again.
But I agree on the fact that it mucks with people, which is why I’m looking at making it a check-box option at the top of the page, possibly along with font size.

Just taken a loot at the piccies, and although it is cute, for some reason I can see that “Anything I can get my claws in to is fair game” look in its eyes 🙂
What you need, mate, is to download Tabbrowser Extensions for Firefox.
As for making external links open up in a new browser, current web user guidelines indicate it’s a bad idea. People don’t like spawning new windows (because of all the porn site associations) and it confuses most people who haven’t been on the net for 10+ years 😉
