Don’t **** with the family
Just read another headline on the BBC News site – “Extortion trial of son of Mafia godfather ends in hung jury”.
Isn’t that a bit ******* harsh? I thought they just bribed them or threatened their kids. Isn’t there a retrial if the entire jury is lynched?
Hygiene
Many’s the time I go for a slash (urinate, for you foreign types) and people comment afterwards “have you washed your hands?”
The answer’s pretty much almost always “no”. I’m 31. I no longer piss all over my hands when I go to the toilet. It took practise, but finally I managed it.
However, if I have a **** and my finger goes through the paper then I’ll make sure I scrub it all out from under my fingernail.
Pipex in “are ****” shocker
I have been on hold to Pipex customer “support” for 55 minutes as I type this. My internet connection is, frankly, bollocks. I’ve checked with my neighbour who’s on the same phone exchange via AOL and is having no problems.
Pipex, on the whole, have been shitter than they have been good over the years. Fine when things tick over, but when it goes wrong it goes really wrong. I’ve had:
- their mail server crash and take a week’s worth of mail with it (when I was in Nigeria a couple of years back)
- 2 years of constant line-dropping until they finally put the issue through to BT who fixed it within 2 days
- this dodgy connection
- an hour-long call cut off while still on hold without ever speaking to anyone
- a snail-mail letter never replied to when I complained
- more than one support call logged by email with a response saying I would have a human getting back to me within 24 hours… and never heard back about it ever
- this current call – 60 minutes on the dot
- a failing to put a proper spam and virus filter in place on their email servers, instead choosing to supply users with a “reduced price” Norton solution – which is completely useless in regards to webmail. And then refusing to reply to my complaints about this
- consistantly refusing to remove my Pipex email address from the CC: field on all their emails to me, despite constant complaints and reminders to do so as it causes all their “important” mails to go into my spam bin (this in turn due to the previous issue)
- an utterly useless “service status” page that tells you about problems after they’re fixed, including an item about their news servers that’s been up there for over a year
Well, **** ’em. I gave them a chance over the years and I can’t be bothered any more. I’d quite happily shift, but I have some problems. One is finding somewhere cheaper that’ll do migrations (i.e. I don’t have a noticeable disruption in service or a reconnection fee) and one that won’t tie me in for too long as I’m toying with moving house within 12 months.
Soon as I find somewhere, however, I am offski… Does anyone have any recommendations? I’d prefer a non-capped solution, but I’m prepared to go for something with a reasonably large download limit. And I only need 1Mb as that’s all my exchange is capable of.

Oops. I kinda of just stay nice about my work colleagues just in case. Until I move on. Then I lay into them. So if any are reading, you’re all wonderful and I love you all.
For now…
well, the start of the story goes something like this – used to have blog (unimaginative title though) – started blogging at work to dull the boredom of office life – some rather lazy women started who didn’t do any work – In rather annoyed post opn day referred to one of the ladies as the dead one from “two fat ladies” (tall, very fat, shuddering at memory), called the other one “bella emberg” (self explanatory really) – never used any names – work colleague knows ip address and proceeds to laugh himself silly over said blog, and then goes to lunch and leaves pc unlocked – one of said ladies (?!?) reads pc screen and goes home crying, other one decides to ask me for a fight (18 stone, 6 foot tall lady, from local chavtown). manager gets into argument with muggins over why I did it. many days later summoned to hearing where they review my interweb use (massively excessive), current workload (done nothing for about three months, been playing champ manager during work time for about a year at that point) etc, cut to pronouncement of doom – final written warning along with the words “if you only hadn’t described them so perfectly then this wouldn’t have been an issue”. Got rid of blog in haste, pity really – i enjoyed the abuse and general rambling of my own thoughts.
it gets better, but not writing about that now.
anyway – moral of story is – “don’t work in same office as inhabitant of chavtown”, oh, and don’t mention what you do for a living in a blog.

dcsun4 – seems endemic. I can’t find a single ISP that’s not got a boatload of “don’t touch these!” posting on the consumer forums.

not sure about who to recommend – I am just about ready to restart my blogging (there’s a very large story there, involving two fat former work colleagues, a manager who threatened to sack me, an HR bitch who needed to be put down, etc) – this will all come out once I actually get my new home pc sorted. Anyway (once i stop to take a deep breath) I am thinking of going with 123-reg.co.uk, but only because my mate uses them.

ewww – dirty dirty, you might not piss on your hands but your willy has been down there curled up & happily festering since you last flibbled it out for whatever reason (!) & it will be bacteria central down there – wash wash wash or no handshakes for you!!!
In the old days (2 years ago) I would have recommended Legend, despite prohibitive prices.
These days we seem to be getting a lot of customer complaints disturbingly similar to your problem with Pipex.
