It’s been a hectic day, with the pupils all back from prelims so I’m onto a full timetable again. Barely time to sit back and breathe, pupils working on a project through lunch, paperwork once the bell went and taking stuff to the flat on the way home as I prep for the “big move”… It says something about a day when the highlight is getting to Asda at just the right time to net a pile of food for a quid. Still, it counts.

I’ve not been to Krav for around 2 months for various reasons, and I needed to get back into it. To push myself I opted to head to a 4-hour groundwork (grappling / wrestling) seminar. Prior to which I had the option of a regular 90-minute class. So, yes, of course I did.

Knackered, strained, bruised, scraped and feeling every one of my 45 years but glad I went. I also got to catch up with a load of people from my old club who I’ve not seen in ages, and train with Ronnie again. I do need to exercise more. And stretch. And stop eating crap.

After a hard-fought battle and tactical use of our Joker during the science round (in which we didn’t actually do as well as we’d hoped), our team took home the annual inter-school quiz trophy. We had one of the smallest teams (if not the smallest), numbering only four with most having six and ended ten points clear of our nearest competition. A good night, and over £500 raised for a mental health charity to boot.
