All Change…?

Sat in sunny (erm… not) Southampton at the moment. Blogger has had a bit of a facelift recently so there may be some changes to the blog. Amongst the main ones, is the addition of comments. I’m currently using Haloscan for my comments, but it would be nice to administer as much stuff in one place, plus Blogger’s giving the option of being emailed each time a comment is added. The one downside is that all comments provided so far will be lost, unless I do some more fiddling… We’ll see!

Anyway, I’m just having some munchies then heading out for a walk round Southampton… and it’s pubs. I intend to get wasted before tonight’s match, hopefully to the point of not remembering it. Wonder if it’s possible to blot out the rest of this season. Hmmm.

Credit Where It’s Due

Massive, enormous amounts of kudos to Earache Records UK, especially Ashley. I recently bought the new Deicide album and managed to get a copy with a bonus DVD. Lucky me!

Only when I opened it… no DVD. And no space in the box for a DVD. Bizarre. The back of the box definitely said there should be one in there.

I had no luck returning it to the store I got it from, and the limited edition DVD versions were all gone anyway, so I tried an email to Earache. Within 24 hours, I had a response back. “Send us the one you have”, they said,”and we’ll replace it with a pucka one.”

Wow.

I returned my original first class post, the following working day I receive a SMS and an email. In return I’m getting an even more limited edition German version with a ton of goodies and the staff even offered to buy me a beer at the forthcoming gig in Sheffield.

Stuff that. With customer service that good, the beer’s on me. I’d thought “customer service” was a term lost in the winds of mystery in this country. Earache… thank you so much for proving me wrong.

All I need to do now is wait till I’m home again so I can get my new CD/DVD pack in the post! Roll on Thursday night.

Another Busy Week

I’m hacking this out on Sunday evening, having just watched a 4-man Newcastle side (I won’t bother with the other 7) draw 1-1 with Wolves. After a quick shower, I’m off to Liverpool where I’m working tomorrow.

Monday night or Tuesday morning (not decided yet) sees me head down to Ascot for a short job. Time allowing, I’ll stop off at Reading in the afternoon. If not, then it’s Reading and Leatherhead on Wednesday, before stopping for the night in Southampton. Which, funnily enough, coincides with our away match for which I have a ticket.

Thursday I’ll be working near Guildford before finally heading home.

Updates, as a result, may be thin on the ground! See you in the funny papers…

Oh, No. I’m Getting Old

I have joined the stereotypical British grouping which includes all those who’ve reached “maturity”. Without realising it, I’ve slipped into a social hierarchy I once poked fun at my parents for being amongst. I don’t know if this is something to do with society itself or if a mental clock has just reached midnight and something awful has happened.

I’ve started listening to Radio 2.

It could be worse. I don’t think Terry Wogan’s all that good in a morning. The guy covering for him now is much better. However, I’m finding myself listening to the lunchtime discussions and phone-ins and enraptured by Steve Write of an afternoon, especially the factoids.

Even the music’s not bad, with even less chart-festering claptrap (claptrap?! See? I even said “claptrap”) than the “classics” stations. Plenty of oldies, decent DJs and lots of chat around the records. Oh, and no bloody adverts.

If you need me, I’ll be at the doctor’s getting my ‘flu jab.
