Mail Gone – ARGH!!!

If you’ve mailed me in the last day or so, please resend it. I was backing up my Outlook mail file when I had a system spike/crash/balls-up and the file became corrupt. I am attempting to restore it, but at present all 242Mb (!) of it is gone.

I can receive new mail, but all my old stuff is inaccessible. Thankfully, I think I can restore all the email addresses from my Webmail, as I only updated that the other day but all phone numbers will also have gone bye-bye.

Expect mass spammage as I try to replace all the details. If you read this, but haven’t received the email explaining the problems then I’ve obviously got an old address. Can you please email me your correct one (as well as any other contact details I should have).

Thanks to Elly for her aid in finding some freeware data restoration utiilties.

Toon 3 – 1 Leicester

Pretty muddy affair, but I can’t complain about Sir Les getting the consolation goal for the visitors. We should have managed another two. Shearer narrowly missed with his last kick before being subbed, then Bellamy and Bridges (both just off the bench) couldn’t decide between them who would take the shot from 2 yards out so let a defender walk off with the ball instead.

Entertaining in places, and a nice win putting us fourth until Charlton beat Chelsea tomorrow…

Swearing

Just had to share the following with you. It’s from one of the BBC’s “Comment on the Story” pages – Has swearing lost its power to outrage?. Pick of the piece is a quote from comedian Boothby Graffoe:

“I did a piece about this for radio recently, on why EastEnders is meant to be so realistic and cutting edge. They’re perfectly prepared to depict the grittiest rape scene, incest, racism, but no-one ever swears.

“Maybe that’s why they’re called soap operas – they’ve had their mouths washed out. You could watch someone get their head kicked, but if they said “f***ing hell that hurt”, the audience would be up in arms.”

World’s Best Steak

Bit of a food theme this week. I’ve just been for dinner with friends in Spalding, Lincolnshire. They took me a very nice (but inexpensive) pub/restaurant called the Royal Mail Cart on Pinchbeck Road. Highly recommended.

The steak just melted on the tongue. In all seriousness, the best I think I’ve ever eaten. After that, the Mars Bar and Snickers I have to tide me over the rest of the evening seem woefully inadequate. *sigh*

I have discovered Food Nirvana

Get this…. KFC. And… Root beer. Well, it’s a KFC restaurant twinned with an A & W (burger) restaurant. But you can mix and match the beverages. Root beer is amazing, and comes in a nice frosted glass. They also do floats and the most amazing milkshakes.

There are apparently three of these establishments in the UK. I went to the one in Glasgow (off Suchiehall Street, near the Buchanan Street end). The others are in Derby and Manchester somewhere. Really must look them up, though for some reason they’re not listed on the KFC web page. Dammit.
