Now it’s Man City’s turn

Manchester City crest

Turning into a bit of a footballing week here on the Moshblog. Sorry about that, but it’s pretty much all over the news right now.

OK, Manchester City. Thankfully now out of the hands of the (alleged) criminal Thaksin Shiniwatra, though he won’t mind as he’s made a packet on it and is being kept on an “honorary chairman”, which means he doesn’t earn anything or do anything, but gets a title and an office so he can feel good about himself. Hmm. A bit like George Dubya, only he’s raking it in for being a corrupt little ****.

The rough worth of the people behind City is approximately 1000 times more than the debt that little ginger **** has put Manchester United into when he bought them out. So that’s one thing to crow over. The Arabian guy in charge has already announced they’re aiming to buy every good player on the face of the planet, win the Premiership this year and the Champion’s League within three years.

Does anyone – and I’m including Manchester City fans here – think this is a good thing for football on the whole? While it’s good to see someone else potentially rising up to trouble the ManUres and Reals of this world, we all saw what happened at Chelsea when Abramovich which his piddly double-digits of billions took over. They won stuff, prices of players went up, transfers were stifled amongst all but the wealthiest of teams… and their football didn’t improve, at least not to the point where it was as enjoyable to watch as Arsenal or ManU. They partially succeeded by stopping other teams buying quality players.

While I’m all for another team becoming competitive, there’s a point where it’s just silly. I was happy when Ashley took over at Newcastle as he came across as someone who cared, had a decent amount of cash and was prepared to open his wallet and let the manager (or, as it turned out, some silly ******* ex-Chelsea dwarf) spend it. His fortune, however, is peanuts compared to the money going into the game now.

Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, the new “owner”, has said they’re aim is to win the league this season. And the Champion’s League in three. To do this, he’ll spend his pocket money that normally goes on (Halal, obviously) bubble gum, chocolate and fast sports cars. First up is the insane sum of £135million for Ronaldo. He can afford to pay them sums that would even make John Terry‘s accountant weep.

It’s like a kid playing Championship Manager with an “infinite cash” cheat. Where’s the fun? Where’s the challenge? If you buy every single good player on the planet, how on earth can anyone else compete? Seriously, where’s the fun in knowing that every week you’ll steamroller the other teams?

Then there’s the whole youth squad. Man City have some good players who’ve come up through the ranks, some entering the England squad which we all know is incredibly weak. This investment in foreign players will, I’m sure, come at the cost of giving these youngsters a run out in the first team. So that’s another source of upcoming England talent squashed. Why spend years developing potential when you can just buy ready-made and proven players from other countries?

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Manchester City up there knocking ManU off their perch, but I’d honestly say it will be a hollow victory if they do it with £600+billion behind them.

With my hand on my heart I can honestly say I’d not feel overjoyed at winning the league in that fashion if it was Newcastle United that did it. Yes, I would love for my team to take the Premiership trophy, the FA Cup, even the League Cup. Of course I would. But to win it by financial, not footballing means…? Nah.

I want to say that my team is better, not richer.

Dear Newcastle United

OK, I just had to… Their email is custserv@nufc.co.uk. Feel free to spam them mercilessly, though I’m sure their mailbox is already rather full.

Hi,

Would you have any contact details for Kevin Keegan (or his agent) where I could send a brief message of thanks? I’d just like to pass on my best wishes to him after the horrific way he’s been treated recently.

Also, if possible, kindly inform the board that Newcastle United – a team I have supported, followed and thrown money at for more years than I care to remember – will not receive one more penny from me until Mike Ashley sells up and leaves the club in someone else’s hands. Someone who actually has some vague idea of how a football club should be run. And don’t even think of putting Dennis Wise into the manager’s position.

Needless to say I’m disgusted by the board’s attitude and actions over the last few days and point blank refuse to support them in any way, shape or form now or at any point in the future.

My apologies if I’m shouting at someone who just answers emails. I appreciate it’s not your fault and I can only hope my comments reach the correct people. Sadly, I’m pretty much fully aware that they’ll be filed in the little round filing cabinet on the floor. It’s not like they’ve listened to anyone with any common sense for the last few months.

Cheers,

(etc.)

Of course, if I actually get a response, I’ll post it here. How much do you want a bet I get some kind of by-the-numbers form nonsense?

Ashley out

Newcastle United F.C.

I just found out that Keegan’s resigned and I can’t blame the guy. Following is an email I sent to Biffa of NUFC.com in relation to their post earlier today:

Disgusted.

I think you missed that one off your list of feelings in one of the opening paragraphs.

Keegan asked for one thing – the manage the club the way that managers are supposed to manage a club. To not be treated like he was in his first tenure by having transfer decisions made around. him. Ashley and co seem to have chosen to ignore that one, simple, common-sense thing.

However, it’s their statements after the fact that have disgusted me even more. Keegan has clearly stated that he’s left because he wasn’t in control of the players coming in or going out. Newcastle United are saying they offered him proposals to go forward and he “chose to refuse them” or words to that effect. So, basically, they stuck to the guns that were causing the problem in the first place. This isn’t business sense, common sense, footballing sense… it’s sheer bloody-minded stupidity, arrogance and stubbornness.

I’m not in a position to harm Ashley’s income in any way. I wish I were, but I’m not a season ticket holder and don’t even reside in the UK at present. If I was, I would be looking to cancel my season ticket for a refund and boycott away matches which I used to attend regularly. No more program purchases, pints at half time and so forth.

Obviously, I’m 100% for fans hitting the beer-downing moron in the pocket and hope against hope he decides to sell up and bugger off sooner rather than later. And he can take the pint-sized Satan with him.

Bitter? Hell, yes. Not only have they screwed us over in a footballing fashion and made us a laughing stock *once again*, they’ve done it a hell of a lot faster than Shepherd and Hall ever did.

I hate sounding like a sheep, but “Ashley Out”.

Just to keep things in the usual tone of this blog, I would like to add that Mike Ashley is a fat, useless, stubborn **** who doesn’t have a ******* clue about what Newcastle United and Kevin Keegan mean to Geordies. I would be astounded if dared show his beer-swilling face in the stands again. At least do it and survive.

Ashley – **** off. Please, just **** off. You’re not welcome in my city, or my football ground. And take Dennis Wise with you. He’s a little **** as well.

OK. Manchester United…

Manchester United's emblem

I just posted this as a reply on Watching Geordie Life and I went off on one slightly. So I thought I’d post it here as well. Feel free to post comments about how Newcastle have won **** all on 50 years (and I’ll contradict you – we have, so suck my cock) and how ManUre are the winningest team ever (also wrong). Or try to be constructive – that’d make a nice change.

Andy Gray is not allowed to comment because he’s a ****.

FACT: ManUre are the only “United” in the football league never to have formed from two or more other teams. Which is where the term “United” comes from. Hence, they’re not truly “United”. Their chants of “There’s only one United” are actually a shorter version of “There’s only one United which has no semantic qualifaction for the term whatsoever and that would be us”. Only I assume it’s a little too lengthy for them to remember if they can’t even look in a dictionary.

FACT: The team wasn’t even formed in Manchester, it was formed in some little rural village outside. Hence there’s only one true Manchester team and that’s City.

Have success all you like, claim to be the biggest club in the world (I think they have the largest debts, if that counts), say that you’ve won more than any team in the last 15 years… all true. But try to at least know something about your club’s history and not say that you’re something you’re not.

I’m not really a ManUre hater, as such. I think they played magnificent football last season and genuinely deserved to win the title. I just dislike the way they’re handled specially by the press and revered by the likes of Andy “sorry, Mr Ferguson, did my tongue tickle your colon” Gray.

Sack the board… or at least the publicity department

Keegan's 3rd coming

Finally announced this morning:

Newcastle United Football Club can confirm that discussions are ongoing between the Board and Kevin Keegan.

Both the Club and Kevin would like to reiterate that Kevin remains as manager. He has not resigned nor has he been sacked, as has been confirmed in respective statements made by Kevin and Newcastle United Football Club.

Now, will someone tell me why this statement wasn’t released yesterday when it was patently obvious that people didn’t have a ******* clue what was going on? Their original statement (simply saying they’d not sacked him) didn’t help, as it only increased rumours that he’d walked out.

Oh, and Sky News can **** off if they think I’ll believe anything they report ever again. Cocks.
